Dodge Ramcharger
Chrysler started the production of the Dodge Ramcharger in 1974, at one point
of the pre-production design caucus, the nametag Rhino was considered. The name
was aptly tagged, the Ramcharger is a brute of a full size machine which had the
power to ram anything in its path. The Dodge Ramcharger is a full size sport utility
vehicle. It is basically a short bed 4x4 pickup with a wagon style body. However,
the Ramcharger's wheelbase is significantly shorter than that of the short wheelbase
pickup truck.

The Ramcharger is rather unique in that it offered a two wheel drive version.
However, no four door version of the Ramcharger was offered. Nothing like many
of its modern equivalent, the 4x4 Ramcharger was not tamed for a soccer mom use.
Even the Royal SE Ramcharger, with cruise control and power accessories, was a
brute, with stiff front leaf springs and a solid, if to some extent harsh, ride.
Afterwards, Ramchargers (at least since 1982) did offer a fiberglass liftgate,
supported by two gas cylinders. It was great for loading in the rain, but a real
pain if your cargo shifts and ends up leaning against the hatch. It's pretty hard
to open the liftgate and catch a falling cargo. Sadly, the production of the Ramcharger
was stopped in 1993, although there are still some which are made in
Mexico until now. Rumors have it that there are plans for the Ramcharger to be brought
back for the full size Dodge Ram. In case you already own one of these Ramchargers,
you should know the best place to find Dodge Ramcharger parts and other high end Dodge parts.
